Financial Literacy Building
FSW believes that the knowledge and skills needed to build financial assets are critical to a family’s success. Our programs strive to help people understand how to save and manage their money so that they can achieve their dreams of getting a college degree, owning a home or starting a business.
Family Assets, LLC, a subsidiary of FSW, helps build personal and financial assets, effectively strengthening neighborhoods within the greater Bridgeport community.
- Families threatened with eviction or foreclosure may
receive emergency interest-free loans and money management training
through The Bridge Fund of Connecticut.
- Individuals hoping to begin or expand a small business
obtain guidance and support through the 16-week Workshop in Business
Opportunities (WIBO).
- FSW can supply WIBO graduates with a Small Business
Micro Loan from a revolving loan fund established for that purpose.
- Individual Development Accounts (IDA's) are managed by Family Assets, LLC. Participants in Bassick High Wealth Builders and Community Homeowners are saving for education or home ownership with the help of restricted matched savings accounts and financial counseling.
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) provides tax filing assistance to FSW clients.
