Fundraising Policies

Donor Bill of Rights

As donors to FSW Inc. you have the following rights:

To be informed of FSW’s mission, of the way we intend to use donated resources and of our capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purpose.

To be informed of the identity of our Board of Directors and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

To have access to FSW’s most recent financial statements.

To be assured your gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.

To be assured that information about your donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.

To expect that all relationships with individuals representing FSW Inc. will be professional in nature.

To be informed whether solicitors of donations are volunteers or employees of FSW Inc.

To have the opportunity for your name to be deleted from any or all our mailing lists. FSW Inc. will never share your name with another organization for commercial purposes.

To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.

Donor Privacy

FSW Inc. CT (FSW) will protect the privacy and confidentiality of all donor and prospect personal information according to the following procedures.

Information we collect: FSW may collect information on current and past donors (name, address, phone, and/or age), people who have attended a special event, and those who may request planned giving information. In talking with individuals who want to make a charitable gift to FSW, we only collect that information that will enable us to be of assistance in helping the individual develop a gift and/or estate plan that meets his/her needs.

Information we disclose: FSW shares information only with those individuals who need it to perform their jobs and are authorized to have access to confidential information, such as staff, board members and solicitors working with FSW. Those with access to this information sign enforceable confidentiality agreements. Donors may have access to all information in their own file, but are not permitted access to other donor information. We must by law, disclose information to government entities or other third parties in response to subpoenas or other legal process as required by law.

FSW will never exchange or rent its mailing list to any outside organization.

Opting out: Donors or prospective donors have the right, at any time, to request removal from our mailing list and fundraising solicitations. To do so, the donor or prospect may contact FSW’s Development office by phone, mail, email or fax.

The protection of personal information is of utmost importance to us. FSW maintains strict practices and procedures to safeguard privacy.
