FSW Inc Employee Elizabeth Selkis Recognized by GE
FSW, Inc., Bridgeport, CT, December 2, 2009 - Elizabeth Selkis, FSW’s Bridge Fund Coordinator, was among those recognized at GE’s United Way Leadership Giving Celebration on December 2. The event, held at GE headquarters in Fairfield, honored GE employees who were top contributors to its most recent United Way initiative. FSW (formerly Family Services Woodfield) was among the recipients of funds from this campaign.
In addition to its top contributors, GE recognized the organizations who had been recipients of “Neighbor 2 Neighbor United” grants. In April, 2009, FSW’s Bridge Fund was awarded a $35,000. The Bridge Fund helps prevent homelessness by assisting FSW clients who have temporarily fallen behind in their rent payments. The Bridge Fund may also provide security deposits to help struggling families move into safe, affordable housing.
Ms. Selkis, a twenty-year FSW veteran, was among four people recognized for their efforts. GE presented each of those recognized with a $500 check to be donated to their respective organizations. FSW received an additional $2,500 donation from GE.
Guests at the event enjoyed a short video presentation highlighting the programs that benefited from the GE United Way campaign.
FSW’s mission is to empower people to build a brighter future. Employing a holistic approach, FSW links flexible, innovative and collaborative programs that restore personal capability, develop skills and build a pathway to economic self sufficiency.
