FSW’s Community Services for the Deaf and Families Recognized
Anna Fronczek Memorial Award presented to FSW staff
FSW, Inc., Bridgeport, CT, December 14, 2009 - FSW’s Community Services for the Deaf and Families (CSDF) was recently presented with the Anna Fronczek Memorial Award. The Connecticut Association of the Deaf (CAD) presented the award to CSDF employees Tammie Ennis and Allison Brooks at the Courtyard Marriott hotel in Cromwell.
“CSDF provides exceptional counseling services in employment, education, marriage, children, family, substance abuse and immigration issues,” said Anna Rinaldi from CAD. “The program, established in 1984, has served deaf individuals for 25 years.”
Anna Fronczek was instrumental in the formation of the Connecticut Association of the Deaf (CAD) in1937. The organization advocates for the deaf in the state Connecticut.
“We are committed to helping those Deaf individuals who are economically disadvantaged or have multiple disabilities, that come from diverse ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds,” said Rachel Spillane, Director of FSW’s Deaf Outreach Services. “I am very proud of my CSDF staff and this award exemplifies their hard work and dedication to improve lives for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing clients. “
CSDF provides comprehensive services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals of all ages and their families, and provides many social events for the Deaf Community. FSW also provides medical, educational, business, legal and community-based interpreting services throughout Connecticut.
FSW’s mission is to empower people to build a brighter future. Employing a holistic approach, FSW links flexible, innovative and collaborative programs that restore personal capability, develop skills and build a pathway to economic self-sufficiency.
